On 2/5/2024 at 09:29, the Crestwood Fire Department was dispatched for a person unconscious and not breathing at the Fed Ex store in town. It was the second open call for the CFD fire companies at that time. Duty Chief 2301, and ALS Ambulance 2302 responded from quarters while ALS Engine 2303 responded from another active EMS call.

Companies found a male patient who had suffered a witnessed sudden cardiac arrest event. The crews immediately initiated high quality continuous CPR, drug therapy, electrical therapy, and performed advanced airway techniques. The actions of our Firefighter Paramedics resulted in a successful return of spontaneous circulation for their patient.

This past Monday, the same crew got to meet the patient in a much better circumstance as he has successfully recovered. Great job by the CFD crew! It’s always nice to see a good outcome for our patients.
